QRX currently partners with Colorado-based QISE companies, laboratories, and nonprofits to provide internships and professional development opportunities for QRX students. Partnership with QRX is free and requires a small amount of additional person-hours for participation in QRX events throughout the academic year. QRX works with partners to determine the nature of events, but, broadly, all events are designed both to provide opportunities for students to gain professional skills and to facilitate closer relationships between students and our industry partners. Events may include:
- Industry meet-and-greets, both in-person and online through Zoom
- Professional skills workshop: resumé-building, interviewing, letter writing, etc.
- Q&A panels (topics may include "company culture," unique facets of the QISE workforce, typical career progressions, etc.)
- Welcome celebration for accepted interns
- Orientation/training for upcoming interns
In addition to any events, internship partners are asked to contribute a small amount of additional time and resources in the spring semester for onboarding and orientation for students who have been accepted to internship positions at their company. This onboarding is designed to ensure that students from a variety of backgrounds and prior exposures to QISE are well-equipped to succeed once they step into their summer positions. Onboarding activity may include:
- Providing students with readings or written training material
- Discussions of company culture and norms
- QISE conceptual learning commensurate with internship needs
- Refreshers for important technical skills
- Connecting students to company contacts important for their success
Overall, partnership with QSRX is designed to place minimal additional strain on companies that partner with us, while also acknowledging that in order to achieve a diverse and skilled quantum workforce, we must work to accept and train a diverse set of motivated workers.Â
Industry partnership with QSRX does not require a monetary contribution. Interested in joining in our cohort of company partners? Email Q-SEnSE Director of Education and Workforce Development Mike Bennett.
