On Thursday, Ìý(during the Metro Program) KGNUÌýwill air inteview with Indra Raj.Ìý The interview took place on January 24th during his visit to Boulder to deliver his public talk, "The Art of the Crossfade: Music, Archives, and California" on CU campus.ÌýJosh uses the DJ method of crossfading to explore and animate historic sheet music, vinyl LPs, and restaurant menus as tools in addressing contemporary issues of gentrification, urban redevelopment, and racial inequality, among others.

Dr. Kun is a 2016 MacArthur Fellow and the winner of a 2018 Berlin Prize and a 2006 American Book Award. HisÌýresearchÌýfocuses on the arts and politics of cultural connection, with an emphasis on popular music, sound, the cultures ofÌýglobalization, the US-Mexico border, Los Angeles, and Jewish-American musical history.ÌýHe also works as a journalist, essayist,Ìýand curator. Ìý

He is the Director ofÌýthe Popular Music ProjectÌýat USC Annenberg’s Norman Lear Center and co-editor (with Ron Radano and Nina Sun Eidsheim) of the book seriesÌýRefiguring American MusicÌýfor Duke University Press. He co-curatesÌýCrossfade Lab, aÌýconversation and performance series that occurs across multiple sitesÌýin Phoenix, Arizona.ÌýHe founded the USC AnnenbergÌýDistinguished Lecture Series on Latin American Arts & Culture.ÌýHe serves on the editorial boards of theÌýInternational Journal of Communication, Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies, Journal of Popular Music Studies,ÌýandÌýPublic Culture.
