CU Boulder Staff Council is excited to announce CU Boulder Campus Kids Day will be held on Thursday, April 27. This staff-exclusive event will feature kid-friendly events all across campus, including a free pizza party and ice skating held at the CU Rec Center (lower courts) from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Staff are required to fill out the to secure their spot at the pizza/skating event. But staff are also encouraged to RSVP to receive the full list of events once it is published.

RSVP deadline is Tuesday, April 25th at Noon.

Please be aware this is a staff-exclusive event, and only the CU employee and their children are permitted to attend. Parental supervision is required at all times that children are on campus. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Staff Council

Please join us on Wednesday, December 1st in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom for a free breakfast sponsored by CU Boulder Staff Council. Drop in anytime between 7 and 9:30 a.m. and enjoy breakfast and conversation with your fellow staff members! The event is open to all staff. Bring your Buff One Card for entry. Campus leadership will be serving breakfast to express their appreciation for all that you do for CU Boulder throughout the year. 

Staff Council will also be accepting donations on behalf of Coats for Colorado and the Emergency Family Assistance Association of Boulder County. (EFAA).

Specific needs this year include:

  • New or gently used coats, all sizes and styles

  • Canned fruits, vegetables and soups

  • Beans - canned or dried

  • Stuffing

  • Cake and gravy mixes

  • Instant potatoes

  • Pie crusts

  • Toilet paper

  • Full-size shampoo & tooth paste

Staff Council will host adventurer Scott Robinson for a travelogue of his 2019 five-month expedition down the Missouri River from Three Forks, Montana to St. Louis, Missouri. Scott will share photos and stories of this epic 2,341 mile journey. Follow the footsteps of Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery with the Corps of Rediscovery.

Scott Robinson has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and around the world. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in Arizona and raised a family in Colorado. Scott and his partner Margie (a CU Staff member in the Office of Advancement) have hiked and adventured many miles, including backpacking through canyons in Utah, paddling down the Green River, and hiking segments of the Colorado Trail. In 2016, Scott completed Doug Hill's yearlong Gone Feral apprenticeship program for an introduction to primitive outdoor living skills in Colorado's Front Range Mountains. In 2019 Scott completed a 5-month expedition on the Missouri with the Corps of Rediscovery.

Staff are invited to join local freelance artist Miranda Thomas on Tuesday, April 6th at 7 p.m. for a Staff Council sponsored painting workshop. Attendees will be guided step-by-step as they create their very own original Colorado nature scene. Attendees are asked to provide their own supplies for the workshop - see the list below. The session will run approximately two to three hours.  

Attendance is limited to 25 people and RSVP’s will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  We look forward to hosting you for a relaxing evening of creativity and fun.

Get Ready for Staff Council Game Night! Just because we can’t be together on campus doesn’t mean we can’t meet up virtually to play games and share some laughs with other Boulder Campus staff.

Join Staff Council for YAHTZEE! Night on Thursday, February 18 at 7 p.m.

All you need is:

  • Five dice
  • A cup
  • A device to log into the Zoom Room

Staff Council will take care of the other details. We will divide players into smaller groups and compete for prizes. Everyone is welcome, including family members.

To join in, sign up on the Staff Council Outreach and Events page (or click on the Yahtzee sign-up button below) by Wednesday, February 17. We will contact you with the link to Zoom, a copy of the score sheet, rules of the game and a list of prizes.

We will also host a Scattergories competition on Monday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m., via Zoom.

Get ready for some quick and creative thinking as you attempt to come up with a word for each of 12 categories, all using the same first letter. Never played? No worries! We’ll go over the rules before we play, then compete for fun prizes; laughs are guaranteed!

Boulder Campus Staff Council will be hosting it’s first-ever Pictionary game on Thursday, March 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m.! We will be using the online platform of skribbl.io to host this fun interactive game. 

The game consists of a few rounds where a player has to draw a word that is given to them, and others have to guess what word it is to gain points! The person with the most points at the end of the game will then be crowned as the winner and win a fun prize! If you have never played before, don’t worry! The rules are easy. Join us and compete to win fun prizes and have lots of laughs. 

To be included in this Pictionary game, no later than Wednesday, March 24. You will be contacted via email with the link to the game, the rules of the game, and a list of prizes.

As we near the end of October and head toward the winter months, Staff Council would like to share something that you can enjoy in your own home! We have compiled our favorite recipes into an online cookbook, which you’ll find on the Outreach Page on our website. We have the perfect Chili for cool weather and football nights, or how about a Traditional British Sticky Toffee Pudding? We also have vegetarian options like Green Lentils and Rice, and for the meat lovers, Baked Swiss Chicken. Why not cook something wonderful and new this week? And watch Staff Council’s Betty Rasmussen make a delicious !

Do you have a favorite recipe you would like to share? We would be honored to help spread the word about the delicious things CU Boulder staff are making. We will add all the recipes we receive to our website so other staff on campus can benefit from your delicious foods. We will also choose a few recipes to be our random winners for our raffle prize! Please submit your recipe by Friday, November 20 to be included in the recipe raffle.

If you are interested in creating and submitting a video of yourself cooking (preferably sporting some Buff Gear), we would love to get those, too, and will share with staff on campus. Please reach out to staffcouncil@colorado.edu if you are interested in submitting a cooking video. Happy cooking!
