Six Awards for CU Model UN at the NMUN DC Conference

Congratulations to the team (CU Model UN) for being recognized with six awards at the Fall 2015 NMUN DC Conference (October 30-November 1, 2015). This is a new record for CU Model UN!Ìý

advances understanding of the UN and contemporary international issues and has positively impacted the lives of numerous delegates. TheÌýNMUN DCÌýConference annuallyÌýdraws delegates from all over the world. The fundamental basis of the simulation is collaboration and cooperation among nations, which includes working together through multilateral diplomacy.ÌýAwards are given by the National Collegiate College Association (NCCA) in recognition of preparation, Outstanding Position Paper Awards in Committee, as well as other overall delegation awards based on work during NMUN in the categories of: Honorable Mention, Distinguished Delegation, and Outstanding Delegation. CU Model UN took home the following awards:

CU Model UN meets regularly toÌýpractice and improve speaking, debating, critical reasoning skills, and the ability to view global issues from an international perspective.ÌýOutside from regular meetings, CU Model UN hosts workshops throughout the year for leadership and speaking. In December, theyÌýhost theirÌýown Model UN conference for high school students around Colorado.ÌýOutside of the club, they are a welcoming and inclusive community with diverse backgrounds and majors. They host parties, social events, and group dinners on a regular basis, all of which are completely optional and separate from main club activities.ÌýThe National conferences (NMUN-DC; NMUN-NY)Ìýare an opportunity to truly emulate the United Nations. They get a true, proper experience of representing a country in the UN, and have speeches, working papers, and voting sessions. In addition, members meet dozens of people from around the whole world, and form connections that last forever.
