1. Level-Up Your Leadership Skills

FranklinCovey is a world leader in helping organizations achieve transformational workplace results. By taking advantage of the courses offered through Human »ĆąĎĘÓƵ (HR) you get to attend them at a significantly discounted rate. The first FranklinCovey course you take after Sept.1, 2021 is $150 (cost includes the All Access Pass â€“ an online Franklin Covey Training website and digital course materials). Any virtual/online course through HR in the FranklinCovey series over the next year can be done at no additional cost. Any in-person course through HR can be done at a discounted rate of $35 (materials fee). Here are a few coming up that we recommend:

4 Essential Roles of Leadership

Every day leaders are making countless decisions and facing problems they’ve never encountered before. What worked yesterday can change overnight. The rewards are great for those who can lead a team to consistently achieve extraordinary results. So how can leaders stay ahead of the curve and differentiate themselves and their teams when so much is changing so quickly? The 4 Essential Roles of Leadership develops the roles leaders play that are highly predictive of success.

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17; 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. each day; Zoom
  • In-Person: Oct. 19, 26 Nov. 2, 9; 9:00 -11:30 a.m. (Oct. Dates)/ 2:00 -4:30 p.m. (Nov. Dates); Administrative & Research Center (East Campus) 346

The 6 Critical Practices for Leading a Team

Supervisors and managers make a significant impact on employee productivity and engagement, innovation, and performance. They are the creators and carriers of culture for their teams and directly influence whether top talent stays or leaves. Their role has always been tough and today’s realities make the role even tougher. Both new and experienced supervisors and managers can struggle when it comes to excelling at leading teams in today’s workplace. The program is ideal for supervisors and managers who need to transition successfully from individual contributors to leaders of others. It also applies to leaders who have been in their roles for some time, and are looking for practical and relevant guidance on how to effectively lead and manage their teams.

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 5, 7, 12; 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. AND 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. each day; Zoom
  • In-Person: Nov. 16 & 18; 9:00 - 12:30 p.m. each day; Administrative & Research Center (Each Campus) 346

Leading at the Speed of Trust

Trust is not merely a soft, social virtue; rather, trust is a pragmatic, hard-edged, economic, and actionable asset that you can create. There is a compelling business case for trust. Teams and organizations that operate with high trust significantly out-perform teams and organizations with low trust. This has been proven in dozens of studies, across a multitude of industries and sectors. The Speed of Trust Practice helps organizations better manage change and create high-performing teams that are agile, collaborative, innovative, and engaged.

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 19, 25, 26 & Nov.1; 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.; Zoom
  • In-Person: Dec. 14, 15 & 16; 9:00 - 1:00 p.m.; Administrative Research Center (East Campus) 346

Beyond the Traditional Mortgage Seminar

By refinancing your mortgage, you may be able to lower your monthly payments, get a better interest rate or a reduced term for your loan, or even eliminate the cost of private mortgage insurance (PMI). In this seminar, we’ll discuss refinancing in depth, including what options may be available to you and when a refinance may make sense. There is not cost to attend this program.

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 6; 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.; Zoom

Cultivating and Maintaining Healthy Relationships Workshop

Relationships--we all have them and they are not always easy. These can be relationships with your family, friends, significant others, co-workers, neighbors, and with yourself. We may have been lead to believe that relationships take a lot of work, but in this workshop we will learn quick techniques to stay in healthy relationships with those around us, and with ourselves.

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 20; 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.; Zoom

3. Diversify Your Development

There are many different ways to develop and grow beyond traditional training and development courses. Here are few we recommend:

Join a Resource Share Discussion with the Ombuds Office

Join Kirsi Aulin, Director of the University of Colorado Boulder Ombuds Office, in a discussion and resource share of Adam Grant’s new book, Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know. She will be covering interesting research-based findings on human behavior as presented in this book. You might think of this as “Things are not always as they seem, Part 2.” Much of Dr. Grant’s work builds on the work of Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahnemann. Prepare to have preconceived notions questioned!

  • Virtual/Online: Oct. 26; 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.; Zoom
