I am delighted to invite you to read the inauguralÌýissue of Voices, the CU Boulder School ofÌýEducation’s annual magazine. In our pages and online,Ìýwe offer perspectives on current events inÌýeducation as well as several spotlights onÌýsome of the many inspirational people in ourÌýfield. From collective efforts to address teacherÌýrecruitment and retention issues toÌýthe community leaders like Christine Ahn and Hon. Christine ArguelloÌýwho are blazing a trail,Ìýthanks, in part, to their education hereÌýto new opportunities to reconnect atÌýevents like Homecoming and Ed Talks, Voices aims to engage and inspire. At times, it seems the focus on our field hingesÌýon the many challenges within education,Ìýand yet we are also a part of a long-standingÌýmovement focused on noticing, exploring andÌýextending the successes in education. OurÌýuniversity has proudly supported educatorsÌýfrom virtually day one—with CU teacherÌýpreparation beginning just one year after theÌýfounding of CU Boulder and the state. Today,Ìýwe offer cutting-edge teacher preparation thatÌýaddresses the schools of tomorrow; innovativeÌýundergraduate programs in education andÌýcommunity leadership; and Colorado’s toprankedÌýgraduate education programs. InÌýthese uncertain times, weÌýcontinue to live ourÌýcommitments to democracy, diversity,Ìýequity and justice.
