Chuck Fairbanks, who coached the CU football team from 1979 to 1981, was diagnosed in August with inoperable brain cancer. The 79-year-old was scheduled to begin 42 days of treatment.

GolferÌýSteve JonesÌý(A&S’81) was elected to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. He follows legendsÌýHale IrwinÌý(Mktg’67) in 1986 andÌýDale DouglassÌý(A&S’59) in 1989. Earlier this year, Jones was chosen for the CU Athletic Hall of Fame.

The equestrian team took 8th in nationals this year, competing against more than 350 teams. Founded in 1995 the team has 40 members who practice at two farms.
