Nordic skierÌýVegard Kjoelhamar, the NCAA champion in the 20K freestyle, was named the 2008-09 male Collegiate Skier of the Year by FasterSkier.com. Former CU basketball playerÌýChauncey BillupsÌý(Soc ex’99), who plays for the Denver Nuggets, won the NBA’s sportsmanship award.ÌýAlan CulpepperÌý(Geog, Soc’96), a former CU athlete and two-time Olympian, along withÌýRich CastroÌý(MPE’73) and long-time track coach Jerry Quillen, was inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame in May.

Larry Zimmer, who has called CU football games on radio since 1971, received the prestigious Chris Schenkel Award. In October, Zimmer will be inducted into the Broadcast Professionals of Colorado Hall of Fame. CU’s associate athletic directorÌýDave PlatiÌý(Jour’82) was honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America for serving 25 years as sports information director at the university.
